Flowers And Fruits

FLOWERS

The flowers of mangrove trees are generally colourful. The Bruguiera for example, has red lantern-shaped flowers to attract insects to pollinate its flowers.

FRUITS

The fruits of the Avicennia are buoyant. When they drop into the water, they will remain afloat. The current will carry them away to a new coastal location. Their elongated structure with sharp tips help the fruit to anchor itself in soft muddy soil.
