Well, so apparently, my class of 5 Formidable, accompanied by our wonderful Geography teacher, MRS FRANCES ESS had a trip to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve on the 24 of March! Founded in 1986 by a group of bird watchers, from the then Malayan Nature Society, which happen to stumble themselves upon this beautiful haven, wrote a proposal to the Government to suggest the wetland to be conserved. Parks and Recreation Department undertook major developments after the 87 hectare was designated as a nature park.
Our Tour Guide, Mr Tan Han Chong, was the most honest guide that I ever had. Don't know about the others, but that is how I felt. "Passion And Ultimate Love For Nature" was what he said. When a few of us asked him what drives him. I guess its also very touching to see his eyes twinkle when he was telling us about the different flora and fauna in Sungei Buloh.
And so it was, our footsteps quickened towards each other piece of land that was not yet already covered with footprints. Each of us had a goal that we wanted to complete at the end the tour. Some of us wanted to have a go at our new DSLR's. Some of us wanted to bring something useful back home to share with our families. But all in all, we are there to learn about the conservation of mangroves. And wildlife.
All in all, we all had a part to play in the conservation of wildlife. Its our planet you know. We ought to cherish it.
